Across the district, George Street Playhouse theatre arts integration programming impacted:

over 1700 students

in 90 classrooms

with 84 educators

Residency Programs






All George Street Playhouse theatre arts integration programs develop content knowledge, sequencing skills, and expressive language development through ensemble-based theatre practices.

10 sessions over 9 weeks.

73 classrooms

across 5 grades

in 8 schools.

25 sessions over 14 weeks.

George Street Playhouse's programming is collaborative by design.

Professional Development

GSP teaching artists and NBPS classroom teachers approached each residency from a co-teaching model:

  • Synthesizing concepts for students

  • Providing critical background knowledge

  • Helping to illuminate connections to core curriculum content

In partnership with the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick, George Street Playhouse provided year-long literacy and STEAM-based theatre arts after-school residencies at Lord Stirling Community School and Paul Robeson Community School for the Arts for over 30 students.
